Webflow - How to transfer a site
When we have completed building a Webflow site, it will be transferred to an account owned by you and Webflow will bill you directly for hosting - see pricing here. Below is the process of transferring the site and connecting us as editors.
Transfer the site
- Sign up for a Webflow account which you can do by going to the Webflow website and clicking Get started.
- Once you have created your account, let us know which email address you used and we can initiate the transfer.
- You will receive an email from Webflow about accepting the transfer, click Accept and transfer site.
- When asked to select a workspace, select the default workspace that was created with your account (eg. "Bob's workspace") and click Accept.
- After redirecting back to your Webflow dashboard, you will see your site in the list. If not, refresh the dashboard page as it may take a few minutes to appear.
Setup billing
- Under the website screenshot and on the right side, click [•••] → Settings.
- In the left-hand menu, click Plans.
- Find the plan that we have recommended for you, and click Upgrade to plan.
- Select your billing frequency, enter your payment information and click Pay now.
- Go back to the Webflow dashboard.
Connect your domain name
- Under the website screenshot and on the right side, click [•••] → Settings.
- In the left-hand menu, click Publishing.
- Scroll to the Production section and click Add a custom domain → Manually add domain.
- Enter your domain name and click Add domain.
- Two entries will be added to the Production section, one for the root domain and one for the "www" subdomain. Both will have required DNS records, take a copy of these and send it to your domain host to update.
- Once the domain name records have been updated, click Verify domain on both entries. Please note it can take up to 48 hours for domain name records to fully update.
- Go back to the Webflow dashboard.
Publish the website
- Under the website screenshot and on the right side, click [•••] → Settings.
- At the top right, click Publish, select the production domains you have added and click Publish to selected domains.
- Your website should now be live.
