Webflow - How to transfer a site

When we have completed building a Webflow site, it will be transferred to an account owned by you and Webflow will bill you directly for hosting - see pricing here. Below is the process of transferring the site and connecting us as editors.


Transfer the site

  1. Sign up for a Webflow account which you can do by going to the Webflow website and clicking Get started.
  2. Once you have created your account, let us know which email address you used and we can initiate the transfer.
  3. You will receive an email from Webflow about accepting the transfer, click Accept and transfer site.

  1. When asked to select a workspace, select the default workspace that was created with your account (eg. "Bob's workspace") and click Accept.
  2. After redirecting back to your Webflow dashboard, you will see your site in the list. If not, refresh the dashboard page as it may take a few minutes to appear.

Setup billing

  1. Under the website screenshot and on the right side, click [•••]Settings.
  2. In the left-hand menu, click Plans.
  3. Find the plan that we have recommended for you, and click Upgrade to plan.
  4. Select your billing frequency, enter your payment information and click Pay now.
  5. Go back to the Webflow dashboard.

Connect your domain name

  1. Under the website screenshot and on the right side, click [•••]Settings.
  2. In the left-hand menu, click Publishing.
  3. Scroll to the Production section and click Add a custom domainManually add domain.
  4. Enter your domain name and click Add domain.
  5. Two entries will be added to the Production section, one for the root domain and one for the "www" subdomain. Both will have required DNS records, take a copy of these and send it to your domain host to update.
  6. Once the domain name records have been updated, click Verify domain on both entries. Please note it can take up to 48 hours for domain name records to fully update.
  7. Go back to the Webflow dashboard.

Publish the website

  1. Under the website screenshot and on the right side, click [•••]Settings.
  2. At the top right, click Publish, select the production domains you have added and click Publish to selected domains.
  3. Your website should now be live.
